Sliding Barn Door Nightstand

Sliding Barn Door Nightstand

My son has been wanting a nightstand for his bedroom, He likes to read at night and needed a place for a lamp and alarm clock.  I had quite a few pieces of lumber left over from my TV console project, so I found the plans for a night stand on my favorite DIY site Shanty2Chic.

I had to adjust the plans a little bit because the sizes of my lumber scraps weren’t quite big enough, but only by a few inches.

Since the leftover pieces were of various types of wood, I decided to paint it with leftover paint from the TV console.

The sliding barn door hardware was fun to make.  The Shanty2Chic plans are here   It uses clothesline pulleys from Home Depot for the wheels and a metal bar that can be cut using a jig saw with a metal cutting blade. Everything is then painted black.

I got the wooden baskets at TJ Maxx.  I like the metal on them.  It looks more masculine than wicker.

It was fun to make use of the leftover lumber and paint.

Thanks for stopping by!  On to the next project!
